On this biking route, you’ll marvel at some pretty fantastic rock features and valleys that run alongside the Rock River. This super smooth road is excellent for those bikers who are just starting and seasoned travelers. Chicago motorcycle experts agree that even though head protection isn’t required to ride a motorcycle in Illinois, bikers should wear a helmet, regardless of experience level.

From Chicago to Dixon, Rock River Run has all you need for the perfect day out.

If you feel like doing some hiking while you’re there, make sure you check out Lowden State Park, which features a sculpture of Chief Blackhawk!

To get to this beautiful place, head toward Rockford from Chicago and take the SR-2 South to Dixon.

Minnesota: North Shore Byway

The route offers access to eight Minnesota state parks during the drive, so if exploring the nation’s incredible trails is on your bucket list, you’ll undoubtedly be impressed with this drive.

Even better, the road is super simple; just drive over Interstate 35 to Highway 61 from Canal Park in the city of Duluth.

Wisconsin: Milwaukee

Every avid biker should take their bike to Milwaukee at least once to this iconic motorcycling destination. While you’re there, you can take a trip to the Harley Davidson Museum or visit one of the many (many) breweries in the local area; seriously, it’s not called Brew City for no reason.

Tip: Depending on where you’re coming from, you might want to opt for the back roads instead of Interstates 41 and 43. Although less direct, the scenes surrounding Milwaukee aren’t ones to miss, like Horicon National Wildlife Refuge, home to an array of migratory birds.

Colorado: Peak to Peak Highway

If looking at stunning mountain views, glacier-cut rolling hills, and all the most stunning scenes Mother Nature can offer is what you desire most in life, then Peak to Peak Highway is for you. Named as one of the top ten motorcycle rides in the U.S., Peak to Peak highway takes you through 60 miles of dense woodland to stunning open meadows.

You might even get the chance to fit a hike in if you’re into that kind of thing. If not, you’ll be able to take a rest stop in one of the quaint little towns along the way.

You won’t want to ride too fast through this incredible part of the country because you won’t want to miss the epic scenes that come with hugging the continental divide and passing the Rocky Mountains.

To kick off your incredible journey, start at the town of Golden and take Highway 6 to Highway 119, following the road north to get the whole experience!

Montana & Wyoming

Both states offer beautiful views and several motorcycle routes are ranked amongst the best in the country. These include Montana’s Going to the Sun Road, Beartooth Highway, WY 14 in Sheridan, and many more. Going to the Sun Road is one of the most popular and spans 50 miles.
