Linden Hills is a premier neighborhood of Minneapolis located in the southwest part of the city. It began in the late 1800s where city folks went to get away from the noise of city life. Today the neighborhood is full of many new homes while still maintaining some of the historical character of its past. Residents enjoy many amenities including dining, shopping and recreation. Here is a look at Linden Hills of Minneapolis.

History

Since the neighborhood sits right next to Lake Harriet and Lake Calhoun, city dwellers since its start would retreat here for an escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Many cottages were built in the late 19th century and early 20th century but have since been mostly replaced.

A historic trolley line known as the Lake Harriet-Como Streetcar, that runs between Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet is still present in the neighborhood. The area of Linden Hills where the trolley runs is full of commercial real estate.
