The Soudan Underground Mine is Minnesota’s very first iron ore mine. Built in 1882, the mine has been preserved today for visitors to see the day in the life of a miner and to learn about the world’s greatest physicists that have stepped foot in the mine. The Minneapolis Institute of Arts holds some of the finest art in the whole state of Minnesota. They offer free tours every day so that guests can see things like tribal African weaponry, ancient Chinese jade carvings, and Victorian portraits.

Fort Snelling is a great place to take a tour of some Minnesota history. The well-preserved fort is now a living museum with actors dressed in 19th century clothing doing reenactments and demonstrations. Mill City Museum

The Mill City Museum was built within the ruins of what used to be the mill. While the mill is now mostly rubble, the building gives visitors a sense of what it was like inside one of the world’s largest flour mills.
